If you know them, then you can easily find your words to express your appreciation for something in their life, perhaps a current event. For people that you don't know personally, for example, you can see what is their focus in their social media postings. I think many people are unappreciated for their work or for their constant good atitude and results. So often, even the organization you work for doesn't seem to appreciate the great efforts and dedication you have. Be receptive and intuitive and cover this void with a nice word. "I've seen your projects, they're excellent done", "I like the way you finish things on time", "I appreciate your continuing dedication for this job". You don't have to be a boss to do this, you can be a collegue or a friend. Sometime a stranger can notice things more objectively. Appreciation will produce great satisfaction in one's heart and will motive them to give their best in what they do and what they are.
