Intern Life – Introducing Linos Owusu-Asare!

Before We Get Started…… I just want to provide you all with a quick background of myself (my mother taught me good introductions go a long way!) My name is Linos Owusu-Asare, my family originates from Ghana (in a city you may have not heard of called Kumasi) but I lived in England (in another city you may have not heard of called London J ) my entire pre-adult life, before coming to Philadelphia to study at Penn (go Quakers!) for my undergrad degree. I would say that I am a pretty diverse person (how many people do you know can realistically fit three continents into their introductory sentence?!) and I have been given the great opportunity this summer to intern at Udemy. Their mission for the future of online education, the passion they have for their work, and the great community they have with each other are just three of the reasons why I am privileged to be working with Udemy and their staff to help change the online education space, one user at a time! If you want to get in further contact with me, feel free to e-mail me linos@udemy.com, or find me on Facebook/Skype/all over the internet Day 1 – Home @ the Ud House (5/10) First official day on the job.  (Side note: Came in yesterday even though I was due to start tomorrow, just because I was so excited to meet the team. Further side note: After meeting the team that excitement was definitely warranted!).

I was contacted recently by one of our graduates from Search Engine College. He wants to remain anonymous, so let’s call him Steve. Since taking our course, Steve had managed to land a job as Director of Online Advertising for a famous plastic surgeon in Los Angeles. He had already used what he learned about SEO and PPC to increase traffic to the surgeon’s site by more than 40 percent. But he had run into a bit of a roadblock, which is why he contacted me. Here’s part of Steve’s email: “Although my client’s Internet inquiries have increased dramatically since last May when I started, we have apparently reached the wrong audience. Every inquiring patient bellyaches over the prices and tries to talk him down.

Most webmasters want to get it right when it comes to pleasing all the search engines and not just Google. They want the right factors to come into play when their site is being ranked. Are you using free media in a manner that brings you sales, leads, and new customers? If not, consider the following for a moment: “When you do the same as other online start-ups: you get the same poor results they are receiving.” Let me restate that fact statistically: 97% of all Sales and Landing pages (existing right now on the Web) fail to make a single sale, or bring in a single “lead.” Sounds horrible right? Is your business one of the 97%? The same applies to Sales emails, lead generation emails, Squeeze pages, Capture pages and other Web applicable media such as Sales videos, lead generation videos, and like content. To get the best result, all promotional content (which you expect to make sales, or generate leads) must be written by a sales writing professional. Why all the “gloom and doom” might you ask? Is it the economy

SEO Slaves with Stepping Stone Status — A SEO-News Exclusive Article

It’s important that webmasters and business owners realize that SEO is only part of their strategy for dealing with the bigger marketing picture. No-one would deny the importance of SEO in today’s online marketing world. What we should all bear in mind, however, is that SEO is only a stepping stone in the ultimate quest for business profitability. For many companies which invest huge amounts of time and money in SEO, the returns must surely be questionable. Unless they feature at the top end of results on Page One of Google, the clicks received are too few to translate into what adds up to a respectable return on investment.
