It’s very easy to open SocialBro for Chrome out of your browser as a standalone application. You can create shortcuts in the desktop, the start menu and in the quick launch bar.To do this, open SocialBro for Chrome in a new tab, then click on the wrench icon (“Customize and Control Google Chrome”) that is at the top right of your browser.Then click on “Tools” and “Create applications shortcuts…”.You’ll see this box, where you have to select the places you want to add shortcuts for SocialBro for Chrome.The application shortcuts are disabled in Chrome for Macs.

We are happy to release today SocialBro 0.2.7 with a CRM approach. Now, you can segment your followers and friends by adding tags to them and using notes to manage and organize your Twitter community more efficiently .This is the main change to this version, the last one before the Chrome app launch! Next to the Filter and the Advanced Search menus, you will find the new Tags tab.How to add a new tagTo add a new tag and a note, you have to mouse over each profile and click the arrow to see “edit tags” and “edit notes”.Select the option “edit tags”, click on the white space and type the name of the tag you want to add. After adding the first tag, you will see it on the left, in the Tags tab. You can also select many users and click on “Click to see more options”, in the footer, then click “Add tags”.You can drag and drop a tag to a profile, too. Just pass the mouse over the tag (more precisely on its left) and drag it to the profiles you want.Adding notesTo add notes you have to select “edit notes” and write the comment you want to add and then “Save changes”

Releasing SocialBro with a CRM approach

Site Performance,  an experimental feature added to the Webmaster Tools console courtesy of Google Labs, provides detailed information about your site’s load time and gives suggestions for speeding it up. It includes a chart of your site performance data over time, which can help determine latency triggers.

As explained in Google’s official blog post about it,  the Site Performance console includes examples of specific pages and their actual page load times, plus Page Speed suggestions that can help reduce latency.

I was pretty shocked when I logged into Webmaster Tools today to find my blog pages take an average of 6 seconds to load. Google states that this is slower than 83% of sites! The Example Pages and Page Speed Suggestions revealed the culprit was a banner ad that was not optimized and a couple of extra DNA fetches on some pages so I was able to fix the issues pretty quickly.

The load time data is apparently sourced from aggregated information by users of the Google Toolbar but it’s important to remember that it’s all averaged. A specific user may experience your site faster or slower than the average depending on their location and network conditions.

As a Labs tool, Site Performance is still under development and Google are seeking feedback on it via the Webmaster Tools Forum.
